Eversheds expands with eleven-member King & Wood team

Eversheds Sutherland has undergone a substantial personnel expansion at its German location in Frankfurt, welcoming an eleven-member team, including one partner and three associates, from King & Wood Mallesons. These key appointments follow a formal cooperation agreement signed in July 2023 between the international LLP of Eversheds Sutherland and the core Chinese team of King & Wood Mallesons, outlining mutual client referral arrangements. As a result, the European King & Wood offices are slated for dissolution by autumn 2024. This strategic move underscores Eversheds’ commitment to strengthening its foothold in the German legal landscape.

The new entries

The Corporate and M&A team sees the addition of transactional lawyers Dr. Sandra Link (49) and Hui Zhao (57, pictured), bringing with them a wealth of experience. They notably provide counsel to Chinese publicly traded companies such as Sinoseal Holding and Hangzhou Honghua Digital Technology.

Commercial and corporate law specialists Christian Ostermöller (43) and Daniel Ehret (48, who became partner at King & Wood in early 2023) are also joining the law firm.

The team further expands with the addition of the versatile counsel Mirjam Goß-Kudo, familiar with financings and securities issuances.

In the realm of employment law, Eversheds has secured the services of counsel Martin Gliewe and associate Sabrina Rübsam.

Legal managers Heling Zhang and Bohan Wan round out the team, bringing their international academic credentials to the cross-border M&A practice.

With these latest additions, Eversheds now boasts eight partners at its Frankfurt location, overseen by Dr. Steffen Schniepp. German Managing Partner Dr. Alexander Niethammer expresses optimism about rapidly expanding the collaboration with KWM (China), positioning Eversheds as one of the leading firms for advising Chinese corporations. The firm currently employs over 170 legal professionals in Germany.
