Mayer Brown appoints new DCM partner in Frankfurt
Mayer Brown expands its capital markets practice with the addition of Sebastian Maerker (pictured) as a partner. Moving from Clifford Chance, where he spent more than twenty years as a partner, Maerker will enter the firm’s Frankfurt office in mid-May 2026 to join the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) practice.
Maerker advises issuers and underwriting banks on domestic and international bond issuances, including sustainability-linked and green bonds, MREL notes, AT1 instruments, hybrid bonds, and covered bonds (Pfandbriefe). Another key focus of his practice is the establishment and updating of debt issuance programs. Most recently, he advised on Südzucker’s €700 million hybrid bond issuance.
With the arrival of Sebastian Maerker, Mayer Brown is continuing the expansion of its German financing and capital markets practices. Most recently, the firm added partner Burkhard Jäkel to its banking & finance practice in January 2026.
