Simmons advises on cross-border wind farm deal
Simmons & Simmons has advised a leading German family office on the sale of six wind farms in the Netherlands, with a combined capacity of 66.2MW, to Energy Solutions Group (ESG).
The cross-border transaction, involving Germany and the Netherlands, represents a strategic acquisition for ESG – enhancing its renewable energy assets and presence in the Benelux region.
The deal is latest of several cross-border transactions that the German ENRI team has advised on in the renewable energy sector over the last year, including Enerparc, Prime Capital and Berenberg.
The firm’s team was led by Dr. Stephan Ulrich (PICTURED), Partner Corporate Germany, who was supported by team members in both countries: partner Rob Hendricks, counsel Michiel Boer and associate Bob van Els from the Amsterdam office, and associates Luisa Kanders and Tobias Schmidt from Simmons’ Düsseldorf office.
Dr. Stephan Ulrich commented on the deal, saying, “We are proud to have played a pivotal role in a significant transaction within the renewable energy sector. Our team’s collective expertise and experience in navigating the complexities of cross-border transactions were key to the successful conclusion of this deal.”
Dr. Jens Gölz, head of the ENRI group in Germany, said, “This transaction once again demonstrates the strength and cross-border capabilities of our ENRI team in Germany. This is further enhanced by our new ENRI partner in Düsseldorf, Thorsten Volz, with whom our team is excellently positioned, allowing us to offer even more comprehensive advice.”
