Lombardi, GC of illimity Bank, appointed treasurer officer of the IBA’s Corporate Counsel Forum
Giovanni Lombardi (PICTURED), general counsel of illimity Bank and general manager of illimity foundation and chairman of LAISA, now also holds the role of treasurer officer of the Corporate Counsel Forum (CCF) of the International Bar Association (IBA), in addition to his directorship at AISCA (Italian Association of Company Secretaries and for the Corporate Governance).
The IBA is the largest association of lawyers globally, with more than 80,000 members internationally. Founded in 1947, shortly after the establishment of the United Nations, its purpose is to contribute to global stability and peace through the administration of justice. The CCF is a platform within the IBA that ensures debate, training, and representation of corporate lawyers, with focus on topics such as: selection of external legal consultants; professional evaluation, development, privileges, and responsibilities in the corporate context; multi-jurisdictional practice; management of the corporate legal function; corporate governance.
Giovanni Lombardi has been a member of the IBA for several years: first as a private practice lawyer (he was with Gianni Origoni from 2001 to 2006 and with Labruna Mazziotti Segni until 2013) and then as an in-house lawyer (he entered the in-house legal market in 2013 and he worked at Prelios and Banca MPS, before joining illimity in 2018).
“I am very happy with the appointment, the opportunity and trust that the chairman of the CCF, Bart Selden, has given me. I hope that my active participation in the CCF and, in general, in the activities of the IBA, can attract new general counsels, in-house lawyers, and also company secretaries, with the possibility for Italian companies themselves to join the association. In an increasingly regulated world in constant frantic evolution, I believe that having a dedicated forum, in addition to the many events of the IBA (such as the upcoming Annual Meeting in Mexico City or the November conference in Milan on AI), where one can freely compare experiences with the most diverse backgrounds and the many professional skills of international colleagues, has an invaluable professional and human value,” he told Inhousecommunity.
