K&L Gates adds partners Wende and Eustermann in Munich
K&L Gates has added intellectual property partners Christian Wende and Markus Eustermann to its Munich office, along with their nine-person team of patent attorneys, trainees and specialists. The group moves from Wende IP, a boutique German intellectual property firm founded by Wende and Eustermann.
Practice focus
Wende and Eustermann advise clients on patents, trademarks, designs and utility models, and have handled matters before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), coordinating patent enforcement strategies across Europe. The pair has built a European intellectual property practice serving clients ranging from startups and venture-backed businesses to multinational enterprises, with experience covering patent prosecution, portfolio management and disputes before the UPC.
Wende, partner, concentrates on patent, trademark, design and utility model matters, with particular experience advising companies in the medical technology and automotive sectors. His work includes patent prosecution, opposition and invalidation proceedings, infringement matters, and intellectual property due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and venture capital transactions.
Eustermann, partner, advises on patent prosecution, post-grant proceedings and patent litigation, including proceedings before the UPC. His experience spans medical devices, automotive technologies, software-related inventions and nanotechnology. A German and European patent lawyer and European patent litigator, he regularly advises businesses on protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights in Germany and across Europe.
