Hausfeld names two new partners in Germany

Disputes-focused firm Hausfeld has announced five partner promotions in its 2026 round. In Germany, the firm promoted Karl-Christoph von Steuben (PICTURED LEFT) in Berlin and Christoph Schubert (PICTURED RIGHT) in Düsseldorf, reflecting the strategic importance of the jurisdiction for Hausfeld’s European disputes work.

Von Steuben advises on complex civil and competition litigation in Germany and internationally, with notable involvement in large-scale collective actions, including the Truck Cartel litigation. His practice spans EU, national and regional courts, where he has represented clients in high-value and procedurally demanding matters.

Schubert’s promotion in Düsseldorf recognises his disputes practice across insolvency, company, insurance and corporate litigation. In addition to acting for clients in contentious proceedings, he has played a key role in securing litigation funding and structuring collective actions. His work also extends into legal technology and AI, and he is a trained business mediator.

Promotions across the UK and US

Outside Germany, Hausfeld made partner appointments in London and New York. In London, Stella Gartagani, a dual-qualified competition litigator, was elevated to partner. Gartagani joined the firm as an intern in 2011 and has since built a practice spanning UK and EU litigation, including work before apex courts. She originally qualified in Greece and previously worked in Brussels.

New York saw two partner promotions. Ashley Crooks focuses on cybersecurity and data privacy disputes, with extensive experience in high-stakes commercial litigation, mass torts and technology-related class actions across US state and federal courts. Daniel Weick specialises in federal antitrust litigation and has represented clients throughout the full litigation lifecycle, from case strategy and trial through to appeals and enforcement.

Hausfeld global co-chair Anthony Maton described the promotions as a “significant milestone” for those elevated, highlighting their role in delivering complex and innovative litigation. Fellow global co-chair Brian Ratner added that the appointments reflect both performance and the firm’s confidence in the new partners to help shape its future.
