Gibson Dunn’s antitrust duo joins Willkie Farr in Frankfurt
Willkie Farr & Gallagher is strengthening its German presence by bringing on board an antitrust team from competitor Gibson Dunn, as part of its ongoing expansion efforts in the country. According to sources with knowledge of the matter, Willkie has now successfully recruited Gibson Dunn antitrust partner Georg Weidenbach and counsel Jan Vollkammer (PICTURED, LEFT AND RIGHT) in Frankfurt. The two legal professionals previously worked at Latham & Watkins before moving to Gibson Dunn in 2020, as indicated on their LinkedIn profiles.
Willkie Farr has been actively enhancing its German footprint throughout the past year, with multiple strategic recruitments in Frankfurt and Munich. This last recruitment follows Willkie’s February acquisition of antitrust litigation specialists Rüdiger Lahme and Andreas Ruster from Quinn Emanuel in Hamburg.
In a previous move last year, Willkie welcomed restructuring partners Jörn Kowalewski and Ulrich Klockenbrink from Latham & Watkins in Germany, along with counsel Hendrik Hauke, who was brought in as a partner.
On April 1, Willkie became the most recent major US law firm to negotiate an agreement with the Trump administration to avoid penalties under a presidential executive order.
