GE Appliances legal chief named as ACC’s New Leader

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), the global organization representing in-house legal professionals, has selected Jason Brown (PICTURED) as its incoming president and chief executive officer. Brown, currently serving as general counsel and corporate secretary at GE Appliances, will assume leadership beginning November 1st.

His selection follows an extensive search process to identify a successor for Veta Richardson, who announced her retirement plans in October of last year after leading ACC for over a decade.

Brown’s career trajectory showcases extensive experience across major corporations and industries. Since joining GE Appliances in 2018, he has distinguished himself by leading comprehensive digital transformation initiatives within the company’s legal operations. His tenure there has been marked by innovative approaches to legal service delivery and technology integration.

His corporate legal experience extends beyond GE Appliances, having previously held the general counsel position for Dyson’s Americas operations and serving as associate general counsel at MillersCoors. Brown’s in-house legal career began at Pepsi Beverages Company, where he held the director of legal position, providing him with foundational experience in corporate legal practice.

Brown’s familiarity with ACC extends well beyond typical membership involvement. He previously chaired the organization’s Chicago chapter and served on its board of directors, later advancing to the global board of directors. This progression demonstrates his deep understanding of both local chapter operations and organizational governance at the highest levels.

Veta Richardson’s departure marks the conclusion of a transformative 14-year tenure that began in 2011. Her leadership period followed more than ten years heading the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, bookended by an earlier role at ACC where she served as vice president of legal resources and deputy general counsel. Following her departure, she plans to pursue board service opportunities, join the Georgetown University Law Center faculty, and complete a follow-up to her successful career guide “Take Six.”
