Clifford Chance appoints one new senior counsel and three new counsel
Global law firm Clifford Chance has appointed four German lawyers as counsel/senior counsel from the start of its new fiscal year on 1 May 2024. The firm has a challenging process in place for appointing people to these roles. Since the 2021/2022 fiscal year, Clifford Chance has streamlined its appointments procedure across Europe, making the roles and career milestones more attractive and high-profile. In the Continental Europe region, a total of four new senior counsel and 19 new counsel were appointed this year.
The new senior counsel and counsel in Germany are:
Senior counsel
Hannes Deusch (Global Financial Markets, Frankfurt) focuses on Banking and Capital Markets law and specialises in advising banks, corporates and fintechs on structured finance transactions. His experience includes the securitisation of trade, consumer, leasing, loan receivables and interest in funds. In addition, he advises on the restructuring of securitisation and other structured finance transactions, on regulatory issues as well as trustees and agents in the context of securitisation transactions.
Counsel
Anne Filzmoser (Corporate, Düsseldorf) specialises in EU and German competition law — in particular, merger control, FDI, antitrust proceedings as well as distribution and licensing agreements across a wide range of industry sectors, including pharmaceuticals, automotive, energy, food and consumer goods. She also advises on state-aid law and supports clients on implementation of specific compliance programmes.
Paul Kohlhaas (Corporate, Frankfurt) is part of the Private Equity and Corporate M&A teams, advising domestic and foreign clients on national and cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, mergers and general corporate law matters.
Diana Schoch (Global Financial Markets, Frankfurt) specialises in restructuring and insolvency law. She advises creditors and companies on national and cross-border restructurings, M&A transactions and insolvency-proof structuring of transactions as well as in insolvency proceedings.
Stefan Sax, Managing Partner at Clifford Chance Germany, says on the appointments in Germany: “The appointments of our senior counsel and counsel demonstrate our commitment to investing in our talented people and recognise their contribution to providing outstanding services and solutions to our clients.”
Steve Jacoby, Regional Managing Partner for Continental Europe at Clifford Chance, adds: “These appointments not only mark a significant milestone in their professional journeys but also demonstrate our commitment to attracting and developing talent to be the global navigator to help our clients in the changing world.”
