Circus Group appoints new GC as it prepares defence sector expansion
AI-driven food robotics company Circus Group has brought on board Sasha Borovik (pictured) as its new general counsel, marking a key hire as the company prepares to enter the defence market.
Borovik joins the Munich-based firm from defence tech player Helsing, where he served as general counsel and director of compliance. He brings over 20 years of legal expertise spanning technology, artificial intelligence, and defence, with deep experience in regulatory frameworks, contract negotiation, and intellectual property. At Circus, he will lead on legal matters tied to commercial contracts, regulatory strategy, and strategic partnerships.
Circus develops AI and robotic technologies for the food service industry, including its flagship cooking robot, CA-1. Borovik’s arrival comes as the company gets ready to debut its new CA-M system—an autonomous food solution designed to support military food supply operations both on-base and in the field.
Borovik previously spent three years at Helsing, where he helped establish the legal function and supported the company’s fundraising activities. Before that, he founded ProofSpace in 2018 and led the business for nearly four years. His earlier in-house experience includes roles at Akamai Technologies, where he was lead counsel for EMEA, and Microsoft, where he served as director of legal affairs. He began his legal career in private practice at Cooley Godward.
