Inhousecommunity EU is born: a new voice for Europe’s in-house counsel market

Over the past few years, the role of in-house counsel has changed profoundly. General counsel and corporate legal teams are no longer operating solely within national frameworks: they are increasingly navigating cross-border transactions, international compliance obligations, evolving ESG regulations, geopolitical tensions, cybersecurity risks, and a growing wave of European legislation that impacts businesses simultaneously across multiple jurisdictions.

In other words, legal departments have become inherently international.

This evolution is exactly what led us to launch Inhousecommunity Europe, a new editorial project dedicated to covering the world of in-house counsel from a truly European perspective.

The idea was born from a simple observation: while legal markets remain rooted in local cultures and regulatory systems, the challenges faced by corporate lawyers are becoming more interconnected every day. Whether discussing foreign direct investment regulations, antitrust enforcement, AI governance, sustainability reporting, internal investigations, or M&A strategy, the conversation is increasingly happening at a continental level.

Corporate legal departments are adapting quickly. General counsel are taking on broader strategic responsibilities, becoming key business advisors, crisis managers, governance leaders, and drivers of organizational transformation. At the same time, they are building stronger international networks and sharing best practices across borders more than ever before.

With Inhousecommunity Europe, our goal is to create a platform capable of telling these stories, connecting professionals across jurisdictions, and highlighting the people, operations, appointments, and trends shaping the European in-house legal market.

The publication focuses on:

  • appointments and career moves of coporate lawyers, general counsel and legal executives across Europe;
  • major corporate transactions and cross-border legal operations;
    interviews and market insights;
  • regulatory developments affecting businesses at European level;
  • the evolution of legal departments and leadership models;
  • innovation, technology, compliance, ESG, and governance.

Above all, Inhousecommunity Europe aims to build a community. A space where legal professionals working inside companies can exchange perspectives, gain visibility, and contribute to a broader conversation about the future of the profession.

The launch of this new initiative also reflects a wider transformation of the legal industry itself. Today, legal expertise cannot be fully understood through a purely domestic lens. Business decisions, regulatory frameworks, and corporate risks steadily transcend national borders, and legal journalism must evolve accordingly.

We believe there is room, and a growing need, for a media platform capable of covering the European in-house counsel ecosystem with an international mindset while remaining close to the realities of practitioners.

The project officially started last month, and we invite everyone working in the European legal market to be part of it. Follow us on LinkedIn, explore the website, and share with us deals, appointments, market developments, and stories from across Europe.
