Dr Martin Heuber to become managing partner of Mayer Brown
Dr Martin Heuber is set to become the new managing partner of the German offices of Mayer Brown, effective 1 April 2026, succeeding Dr Guido Zeppenfeld, who has held the role for more than a decade.
Heuber, 45, has been a partner in the firm’s Frankfurt office since 2016 and currently heads the Banking & Finance practice in Germany. His work focuses on advising companies, financial institutions and sponsors on banking and finance law, with particular expertise in syndicated loans, acquisition and real estate financing, and restructurings.
Heuber will take over the leadership of Mayer Brown’s German offices from Zeppenfeld, 58, who has played a central role in shaping and strategically developing the firm’s presence in Germany over the past twelve years.
Zeppenfeld will now concentrate on his global leadership responsibilities within the firm’s employment practice. As of 1 January 2026, he assumed the role of head of Mayer Brown’s worldwide Global Employment & Benefits product group, an area the firm considers a strategic priority.
Commenting on the appointment, Zeppenfeld said: “Martin Heuber represents professional excellence, strategic vision and entrepreneurial thinking. I am delighted to pass the leadership of the German offices into his hands and am confident that he will continue Mayer Brown’s successful development in Germany.”
