Pearl Cohen expands European footprint with Munich launch
US-Israeli IP firm Pearl Cohen has established its second European office in Munich through the integration of patent attorney firm Tautz & Schuhmacher, reinforcing the growing presence of US-connected firms in Germany’s patent landscape.
The Munich launch brings three patent professionals into Pearl Cohen’s ranks. Partners Raphael Tautz and Matthias Schuhmacher (BOTH PICTURED, LEFT AND RIGHT) lead the office alongside Michael McCandlish, who serves as of counsel. All three hold dual qualifications: Tautz and Schuhmacher as European patent attorneys and US attorneys-at-law, while McCandlish is licensed as a US patent attorney and attorney-at-law. These combined transatlantic credentials form the foundation of the Munich office’s positioning, enabling cohesive legal guidance for clients with operations spanning Europe and the United States. The integration with Pearl Cohen’s multi-office US presence amplifies this cross-border strength.
The firm’s strategic focus centers on high-technology sectors and innovation-led enterprises. Having built its presence across Israel and the United States over several decades, Pearl Cohen has been pursuing steady international growth. Munich now joins London as the firm’s European hubs. Both European offices operate exclusively within IP matters – London with six professionals and Munich with its trio of patent attorneys. Beyond IP, the firm’s broader practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory, regulatory compliance, taxation, and dispute resolution.
The Munich group concentrates its practice on quantum computing, semiconductor technology, photonics, optical systems, and the life sciences sector.
